Senator Bassey Hails Governor Eno On Youth Engagement
Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, Aniekan Bassey has expressed deep gratitude towards Governor Umo Eno following his extensive empowerment programmes unveiled during the Youth Appreciation Rally, Naija News House gathered.
Senator Bassey, a strong advocate for youth engagement and development, commended Governor Eno for his unwavering commitment to ensuring the growth and participation of the youth in the governance and economic advancement of the state.
Speaking with Journalists, Senator Bassey highlighted the Governor’s achievements, particularly the empowerment of 1200 beneficiaries through the Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development (IBOM-LED) program, and the provision of educational and business support grants to undergraduates and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), including physically challenged individuals.
He emphasized that such programmes reflect a visionary approach to inclusive development and strategic human capital investment, which the youth of Akwa Ibom have long yearned for.
The Senator also acknowledged the Governor’s benevolence to doled out N310 million to bolster youth-oriented projects and opportunities in the State.
However, Senator Bassey noted that the Governor’s efforts will significantly reduce unemployment and ensure active youth engagement at grassroots levels.
In his appreciation, Senator Bassey particularly lauded the appointment of 3000 youths into the Ibom Community Watch scheme and the launch of an employment portal designed to prepare youths for future roles in the State Civil Service.
He lauded the Governor’s foresight in increasing the bursary for students, particularly those pursuing Medicine, Law, and postgraduate studies, reflecting his genuine concern for educational growth and professional development.
He pledged to support Governor Eno’s administration in any capacity required to ensure that his many commendable programmes are sustained and expanded.
