Charly Boy Speaks On Calling For Coup In Nigeria

Peter Obi’s supporter, Charly Boy has denied calling for coup in Nigeria, hours after he came under a barrage of attacks.

In a post on Sunday night, the musician said his earlier post was misinterpreted and blasted news media that ran it for engaging in “cheap, stupid sensationalism”.

“Dem wan take me do escape goat? How “E dey Pain Me” turn into a call for coup. Der fathers”, he wrote on the social media platform X, hitherto known as Twitter.

Earlier on Sunday, Charly Boy expressed pains that God is not heeding his prayer in Nigeria as He has done in Gabon, Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, where soldiers had staged coups to overthrow the elected governments.

Most news platforms interpreted the post to mean the 73 year-old singer was advocating for coup in Nigeria.

Introduced in August 1994 to satisfy a yearning for a fresh, breezy and entertaining afternoon paper in Lagos and its environs, P.M.News is positioned as a paper for everyone.
