PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Surv. Ekpenyong Gets New Appointment
Uruan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom state has appointed the PDP Chairmanship Candidate of Uruan, Hon. (Surv.) Iniobong Ekpenyong, as the new deputy Zonal leader of Southern uruan.
This was on the heels of a motion moved by the Zonal leader of Southern uruan,Obong Augustine Effiong and seconded by the political leader of ward 7, Obong Ime Ebong Ntuk during a celebration visit to the Chairmanship flag bearer on Thursday at his Osongoma residence, Uyo.
According to the mover of the motion, Obong Augustine, “Surv. Ekpenyong appointment as his deputy is to prepare him for higher position to takeover from him as the Zonal leader when he step aside from active politics and Iniobong being the highest political office holder in the zone and his leadership records make it possible for Ward Leaders and all stakeholders deemed it fit to appoint the Surv. Ekpenyong as the deputy zonal leader.”
The new Deputy Zonal Leader, who is also the Chairmanship PDP flag bearer in Uruan, is to takeover from Obong Augustine as the Zonal Leader of Southern Uruan when Augustine step aside from active politics.
Speaking in their seperate remarks, The stakeholders, the Transition committee chairman, Evang. Uduak Udoenang and the dean of ward leaders, chief Bassey Tom spoke in appreciation of the personality of the Hon. Iniobong and his victory at the just concluded PDP primary, noting that “it is unprecedented for an Uruan son to be elected twice for the position of the executive chairman in the history of the Local government.”
They urged him to remain the true son of Uruan as he has always been and make them more proud when he gets to the office as the Executive chairman for the second time.
Responding, Surv. Ekpenyong appreciated God for his grace upon him and all the stakeholders of Uruan for the honor done him and assured the entire Uruan for an inclusive government when he get in office and urged everyone to vote for PDP from ward 1 to 13 and make sure PDP emerge victorious in the upcoming election in Uruan.
Naija News House gathered that, Surv. Ekpenyong was elected as uruan local government Boss in 2020, after his successful three years tenure, he was appointed as Transition Committee Chairman.
Naija News House understands that, Ekpenyong resigned his position to contest for uruan local government Chairman on 5th October.
Ekpenyong was the first council chairman in Akwa Ibom state to won election through oral interview, attitude test.
