Finally, FRSC To Carry Guns
A bill seeking to empower officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to bear arms has passed its second reading.
The bill, jointly sponsored by Abiodun Adesida (APC-Ondo) and Olaide Muhammed (APC-Oyo), was read for the second time on Thursday during plenary.
The bill aims to establish a Road Safety Special Armed Squad with the authority to bear arms.
However, the bill was not debated by members of the House, as Speaker Abbas Tajudeen described it as a “straightforward bill” and subsequently referred it to the committee on FRSC for further legislative action.
Naija News House recalls that the corps has been seeking permission to bear arms for several years but has faced opposition.
