Fire Burns Down Popular Market In Ibadan, Destroys Property Worth Millions Of Naira
A fire outbreak has engulfed the Araromi spare parts market in Agodi-Gate, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, leaving the property worth millions of naira in ruins.
The blaze, which reportedly began around 2am on Saturday, has continued to rage, with firefighters from the Oyo State Fire Services still struggling to bring it under control.
The General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services, Akinyemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident early Saturday morning, describing the situation as critical.
“We are battling with a serious inferno at Agodi-Gate. Help us to call water tanker owners to assist us. We are still here battling with the situation,” he said.
Punch reports that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
However, the authorities are urging residents and tanker owners to support efforts to contain the blaze.
