Zulum Flags Off Rep Talba’s Food palliative, N20m Cash For Constituents

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has flagged off the distribution of food palliatives and cash assistance to 3,000 vulnerable constituents of the Marte, Monguno, and Nganzai Federal Constituency.

The intervention, which includes a total cash of ₦20 million, was provided by the lawmaker representing Marte, Monguno and Nganzai constituency in the House of Representatives, Engr. Bukar Talba.

Zulum was represented at the flag-off ceremony by the Secretary to the Borno State Government, Alhaji Bukar Tijani, who commended the lawmaker for his dedication to grassroots development and for complementing the state government’s efforts in providing a social safety net for the people.

The event, which took place on Saturday, comprises each of the 1,000 beneficiaries selected from the three local government areas receiving a bag of rice, a carton of spaghetti, and a cash amount.

Speaking through the SSG, Zulum commended Engr Talba’s proactive leadership and dedication to his constituents’ welfare. He emphasised that such interventions align with the state government’s broader mission of rebuilding communities affected by over a decade of insurgency.

In his remarks, Engr Talba highlighted that the palliative distribution is part of a continuous effort to provide succour to his constituents. He reiterated his commitment to supporting vulnerable families, noting that beyond this immediate relief, he has consistently initiated developmental projects since assuming office.

“As your representative, I remain steadfast in aligning our efforts with the vision and development agenda of His Excellency, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum. We are committed to supporting his transformative 10-point agenda by ensuring that meaningful development and democratic dividends reach every corner of our constituency.”

“I am pleased to inform you that I have successfully facilitated numerous impactful projects across our communities. These include the provision of solar-powered boreholes to ensure access to clean and safe water, the construction of classrooms to strengthen our educational system, and the distribution of school uniforms and instructional materials to support our children’s learning.”

“In addition, we have installed solar-powered street lights to enhance security, provided water pumps to support livelihoods, and implemented several other interventions aimed at empowering our people and promoting self-reliance.”

Today’s event is a continuation of these efforts. I am happy to announce that each beneficiary present here today will receive a bag of rice and a carton of spaghetti to support their households throughout this blessed month of Ramadan.”

The event was attended by key government officials and stakeholders, including the Acting Chief of Staff, Dr Babagana Mallumbe; the APC State Chairman, Hon Bello Ayuba; the State House of Assembly Members representing Monguno, Marte, and Nganzai; commissioners, local government chairmen, and party leaders.
