Senator Bassey Launches Massive Free JAMB Registration For Constituents
Senator Aniekan Bassey, representing the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, has initiated a program to provide free registration for economically disadvantaged candidates from the district for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Naija News House reports.
The initiative, officially launched by Barrister Anthony Ukpong on behalf of the Senator, commenced on Friday at the Akwa Ibom North-East Constituency Office, Osongoma Road, Uyo. More than 200 prospective candidates from the district’s nine local government areas participated in Day-One of the exercise.
According to Barrister Ukpong, who serves as the Senior Legislative Aide to the Senator, the program, conducted in collaboration with the RHAB-YESS Foundation, will run from February 9th to 16th, 2024. Its objective is to support aspiring candidates in realizing their academic aspirations and to alleviate the financial burden on parents who cannot afford the UTME fees.
He mentioned that outstanding candidates in the UTME will be awarded full scholarships in their chosen fields of study, emphasizing Senator Aniekan Bassey’s unwavering commitment to the educational and socioeconomic advancement of the senatorial district.
Furthermore, he encouraged prospective candidates to view this opportunity provided by Senator Aniekan Bassey as a means to pursue their academic ambitions and aspirations.
The beneficiaries of the 2024 UTME registration include students from community secondary schools across Etinan, Ibesikpo Asutan, Ibiono Ibom, Itu, Nsit Atai, Nsit Ibom, and Nsit Ubium Local Government Areas.
