Kebbi Security Operations: Military Rescues Kidnap Victim, Recovers 18 Cattle, Nabs Four Drug Peddlers
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded fresh operational successes in Kebbi State, rescuing a kidnapped victim, recovering 18 rustled cattle and arresting four suspected drug peddlers in separate operations.
The successes were recorded on October 18, 2026, during security operations conducted by troops of Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West in collaboration with local vigilantes and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
During the first operation, troops received a distress call reporting that suspected terrorists had invaded Rambo Village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, allegedly targeting residents for kidnapping and rustling cattle.
Responding promptly, the troops, alongside local vigilantes, moved to the affected community and engaged the suspected terrorists in a firefight.

The operation resulted in the rescue of a 40-year-old man, Suleiman Maiyaki Ikara, who had been kidnapped by the attackers. The troops also recovered 18 cattle suspected to have been rustled during the incident.
Following the operation, the rescued victim and the recovered animals were handed over to the District Head of Rambo Village for further action.
In another security operation, troops partnered with NDLEA personnel to raid suspected drug trafficking hideouts in Dakin Kowa, Karaye and Gubba communities in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operation led to the arrest of four suspected drug peddlers, while substances believed to be illicit drugs were recovered from the locations.
The suspects and the recovered substances are currently in the custody of the NDLEA Command in Maiyama as investigations continue.
The Joint Task Force said it remained committed to intensifying operations against terrorists and other criminal groups operating within its area of responsibility.
It also urged residents to maintain cooperation with security agencies by providing credible and timely intelligence that could assist troops in identifying criminal elements, preventing attacks and improving security across the region.
