NYSC Members Lament Poor Feeding At Camp

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to Jigawa State have expressed dissatisfaction and discontent regarding the feeding conditions at the orientation camp located in Dutse.

In conversations, several corps members voiced their grievances, alleging that the NYSC management has been providing them with meager and insufficient food portions, woefully inadequate to sustain even the most basic nutritional needs.

Photos show a corps members with a paltry meal consisting of a small serving of watery beans accompanied by a slice of yam.

“That is what we have been facing. They have been feeding us this since we arrived at the camp. This is bad,” one of the corps members said.

When contacted, the agency’s acting spokesperson, Mrs Carol Lembu said that the alleged maltreatment would be investigated.

“Thank you for this information. We will look into this right away,” she said.

Meanwhile, the NYSC earlier attributed the rejection of some Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) from its ongoing 2024 Batch “B” Stream 2 Orientation Course to their late arrival at the designated camps.

Naija News House had earlier reported that hundreds of NYSC corps members were stranded after they were rejected at orientation camps across the country.

It was gathered that the affected corps members were prevented from registering for the one-year compulsory service.

The affected graduates are those mobilised for the 2024 batch B stream but later moved to batch C.

One of the affected persons who spoke to SaharaReporters on Monday said about 40 graduates were affected at the Lagos orientation camp.
