BREAKING: Again, Nigerian Govt Slash Petrol Price Per Litre
Oil marketers lifting the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, from Dangote Petroleum Refinery have slashed the price of the product by 11.8% to N939.50 per litre, down from N1,060 per litre.
As of yesterday, the oil marketers were still selling petrol at N1,060 per litre, based on Vanguard’s checks in Lagos and its environs.
However, checks on Friday indicated that MRS, a major marketer, and a few others have adjusted their pump prices.
When contacted, the chairman of MRS, Alhaji Sayyu Idris Dantata, declined to comment, but a visit to the company’s filling station in Ojota, Lagos, confirmed that MRS has started selling at N939.50 per litre.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery slashed the ex-pump price of its petrol to N899.50 per litre, down from N970 per litre.
According to the refinery, the price reduction was expected to provide much-needed relief for Nigerians ahead of the holiday season.

“Furthermore, for every litre purchased on a cash basis, consumers will have the opportunity to buy another litre on credit, backed by a bank guarantee from Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank.”
Petrol Sells at N1,040 per Litre in Bayelsa
Checks on Saturday indicated that oil marketers have not yet adjusted prices in the South-South states and other regions because new supplies have not yet been received at the filling stations.
In Bayelsa State, the NNPC mega stations sold it at N1,040 per litre, while most independent marketers sold it at between N1,080 and N1,100 per litre. Also, in Cross River, petrol remains at N1,060 at NNPC mega stations, while other major marketers sold the product at N1,070 and above yesterday.
Specifically, while Total sold the product at N1,090 per litre, Mobil and Northwest have prices of N1,050 and N1,070 per litre, respectively.
However, in Akwa Ibom State, the NNPC stations sold it at N1,070 per litre, while others dispensed it at N1,090 and above, depending on location.
It was also confirmed that in Rivers State, NNPCL sold it at N1,045 per litre, while other filling stations dispensed it at between N1,100 and N1,080 per litre.
Meanwhile, oil marketers expect prices to drop in the coming weeks when new supplies reach the filling stations.
