2027: Oborevwori To Delta Workers: You Can’t Collect 13th-Month Salary and Vote Against APC

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed confidence that the state’s 13th-month salary package will boost the chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, insisting that civil servants have strong reasons to support the party.

The governor spoke on Thursday in Asaba at the inauguration of the Delta State APC Campaign Council, where he announced “MORE Plus” as the slogan for his re-election campaign.
Oborevwori, who is the chairman of the council, told members that his administration’s policies and achievements should form a major part of the party’s campaign message.
He specifically highlighted the 13th-month salary package, describing it as a significant benefit for workers in the state.
“Today, civil servants have no choice not to vote us. They have no choice. 13th month (salary) is huge, times two. Some people don’t understand what 13th month,” he said.
According to the governor, the package covers political appointees and public servants, with additional payments scheduled for December.
He urged the campaign council to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu, himself and other APC candidates by taking the party’s message to communities, wards and polling units across the state.
Oborevwori said the campaign must combine the presentation of government achievements with effective communication, noting that party members needed to explain the impact of government policies to voters.
He identified infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, youth empowerment and security as key areas of focus under his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda.
Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme also called on party members to promote the achievements of the Tinubu administration, particularly in local government autonomy, education funding, electricity, road construction, security and grassroots development.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, urged Nigerians to understand the reasons behind the Federal Government’s economic reforms, arguing that difficult decisions had become necessary to address structural economic challenges.
He said the reforms, despite the temporary hardship experienced by citizens, were intended to tackle problems such as the unsustainable cost of fuel subsidies.
The Delta APC Chairman, Solomon Arenyeka, described the campaign council’s inauguration as evidence of the party’s determination to secure victory in the 2027 elections.
Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, representing Delta North, said the party had a responsibility to justify the expectations generated by the mass defection from the PDP to the APC in April 2025.
He advised members of the council to focus on direct voter engagement and grassroots mobilisation instead of depending exclusively on political rallies.
In his remarks, O’tega Emerhor, speaking for Delta Central, welcomed the APC’s position as the ruling party in Delta State and pledged support for the re-election bids of Tinubu and Oborevwori.
Former Secretary to the State Government, Ovuozourie Macaulay, who represented Delta South, said the achievements of the Oborevwori administration would be central to the party’s campaign efforts.
He assured the council that political leaders in the district would work towards delivering substantial votes for the APC.
The Director-General of the campaign council, Senator James Manager, promised to collaborate with party leaders and members to secure electoral victory, emphasising the importance of unity, commitment and sustained grassroots mobilisation.
