BREAKING: NDC Member Shot Dead, Photo

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to pursue justice for Ifeanyi Christopher Nwolie, a 43-year-old member of the party who died after being shot during an attack on its campaign office in Enugu State.
Nwolie was laid to rest on Thursday, with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and its Enugu State governorship candidate, Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, among those present to pay their last respects.
The deceased, who hailed from Affa in Udi Local Government Area, was reportedly shot by suspected political thugs during an attack on the party’s campaign office in the GRA area of Enugu on October 10, 2026. He died on October 12, two days after the incident.
The burial attracted NDC chieftains, political candidates from across the Southeast and scores of party supporters.
In a statement issued by Hon. Sampson Ukwu, media aide to Ohaa, Obi called on Nigerians to reflect on the reality of death, noting that nobody is exempt from it, irrespective of political position or wealth.
He prayed for strength and comfort for the deceased’s family, with particular concern for his aged mother. Obi also pledged to take responsibility for her care and needs.
The NDC presidential candidate further emphasised that politics should not be a do-or-die affair, as political disagreements should never result in the loss of human lives.
Ohaa, while addressing mourners, expressed the party’s grief over Nwolie’s death but maintained that the circumstances surrounding his passing would not discourage the party from pursuing its political objectives.
The NDC chairman in Udi Local Government Area had earlier confirmed that Ohaa paid more than ₦5 million in hospital bills incurred by the deceased before his death. He also reportedly financed the burial arrangements.
The party reiterated its determination to demand justice for Nwolie and all other victims of political violence in Enugu State.
The statement concluded with a prayer for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.
