BREAKING: Many Police Officers Killed In Bandit Attack While Travelling To Zamfara For Special Assignment

Several police officers are feared dead after suspected bandits reportedly attacked a vehicle conveying security personnel from Sokoto State to Zamfara State on Monday.
The officers were said to be travelling to Zamfara for a special duty assignment when armed men allegedly intercepted and attacked their vehicle.

Details of the attack remain sketchy, as the number of officers killed and the fate of other personnel travelling in the vehicle have yet to be officially established.
However, disturbing photographs obtained by Naija News House showed the bodies of some police officers lying inside a bus, with their hands and legs apparently bound with ropes.
The photographs also captured personal belongings believed to belong to the officers scattered around the scene, while the vehicle used for the journey reportedly had bloodstains.
The attack comes amid persistent security challenges across Nigeria’s North-West, particularly in Zamfara and neighbouring states, where armed groups continue to terrorise residents through ambushes, killings and mass abductions.
Other states affected by recurring bandit attacks include Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna and Kebbi, where highways and rural communities have remained vulnerable to attacks.
Efforts to obtain official confirmation of the incident from the police authorities were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
The Sokoto State Police Command spokesperson, Rufai Ahmed, and his Zamfara counterpart, Yezid Abubakar, both said they were unaware of the incident when contacted.
Ahmed, however, directed further inquiries to the police zonal spokesperson, Ambrusa.
Messages subsequently sent to Ambrusa requesting confirmation and details of the attack had not received a response as of press time.
