Alleged S3x Scandal Rock Church of Christ
UYO, Akwa Ibom State – Church of Christ, located at 1 Eyo Akpan Street, off IBB Way, Uyo, has been thrown into controversy following allegations of s3xual misconduct involving some senior members, as well as claims of a leadership crisis within the congregation.
According to claims circulating among members of the church, a former Transition Chairman of Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, Mr. Ekpuk Eshiet, has been accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with the wife of another church member, identified as Mrs. Ubongabasi Akwaowo Ernest. It is further alleged that he was also involved in a relationship with another female member, Miss Ubokutom Asaka.
The allegations have reportedly created tension within the church, with sources claiming that the developments led to disagreements in some families and prompted certain members, including Mr. Eshiet’s wife, to stop worshipping at the congregation.
The controversy has also reportedly extended to the church’s leadership. Some members allege that Mr. Eshiet and another senior member, Mr. Effiong Etok, also known as “Charles Taylor,” attempted to influence the church’s leadership by seeking the removal of the resident preacher.
According to the sources, the alleged move was resisted by the church’s youth wing, which insisted that Mr. Etok should step aside in the interest of peace. The sources further claimed that Mr. Etok was subsequently removed from his church position.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and those named in the report had not publicly responded to the claims at the time of filing this report. The leadership of the Church of Christ has also not issued an official statement on the matter.
