Back-to-Back Glory: CNS Volleyball Spikers Lift 2025 Super Cup

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Male Volleyball Spikers Team has emerged champions of the 2025 National Volleyball Super Cup Tournament, defeating the Nigeria Customs Service Volleyball Team in the final played on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Moshood Abiola Indoor Stadium, Abuja.
The National Volleyball Super Cup Tournament is organised to determine the best club in Nigeria at the conclusion of the regular league season, while also promoting excellence, competitiveness, and the development of volleyball in the country. The competition further serves as a platform for identifying outstanding players for future national team selection.
The CNS Male Volleyball Spikers’ victory extends their impressive run of form, coming on the heels of their back-to-back triumphs in the 2024 and 2025 National Volleyball Premier League seasons, during which several players also earned individual honours.
Their success in the 2025 Premier League season qualified the team as one of six clubs that competed in the Super Cup, which was held from January 31 to February 8, 2026, at the Moshood Abiola Indoor Stadium.
In the women’s category, the CNS Female Volleyball Spikers Team also recorded a commendable outing, clinching the bronze medal after finishing third behind the Chief of Army Staff Female Volleyball Team.
Congratulating the teams, the Chief of the Naval Staff praised the male spikers for their outstanding performance, noting the successful defence of their league title for the second consecutive year and their Super Cup victory in quick succession. He described the achievement as a testament to the team’s resilience, discipline, sound preparation, and strong team spirit.
The CNS further commended the consistency of the volleyball teams in representing the Nigerian Navy with distinction, setting high standards for professionalism, competitiveness, and sportsmanship both on and off the court.
While celebrating the back-to-back league titles and Super Cup success, the Chief of the Naval Staff urged the players not to rest on their laurels, stressing that sustained success comes with increased responsibility and higher expectations. He reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to continued support for the teams, particularly in the areas of player development and coaching excellence.
The victory, he noted, underscores the importance the Nigerian Navy places on sports as a tool for maintaining physical fitness, morale, and motivation among personnel, in line with the CNS mission of safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime interests.
