Evangelist Dachomo: I Feel Suicidal When I Hear Accusations That We Buried Empty Coffins

Evangelist Dachomo: I Feel Suicidal When I Hear Accusations That We Buried Empty Coffins

Evangelist Ezekiel Dachomo, a Plateau State-based preacher and community advocate, has revealed that he felt depressed and suicidal when he heard of the accusations, started by Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, that he and his people were burying empty coffins to advance a false narrative of genocide against Christians in the North.

The senior pastor of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) made the remarks during an exclusive interview with Rudolf Okonkwo on 90MinutesAfrica.

Reverend Dachomo, who had threatened to sue Sheikh Gumi for the statement, said he had lost count of the number of funerals of victims of Fulani terrorists that he had conducted over the years.

ā€œThe person spreading that accusation is a member of the terrorists and has been their chief negotiator,ā€ Dachomo stated.

ā€œHe created this narrative to water down the mounting evidence of genocide against Christians in northern Nigeria.ā€

He, however, insisted on the readiness of him and his people to exhume the corpses for the world to see and judge if they were empty, as Sheikh Gumi is alleging.

The fiery preacher further explained that the only way to stop the continued attacks by the Fulani terrorists on peaceful Christian communities in the state is for the communities to acquire a means of self-defence.

ā€œAll Christian communities must enter the ring of self-defence,ā€ the preacher said. ā€œIf they don’t go out alive whenever they come in to attack our villages, they will think twice before coming.ā€

Reverend Dachomo also disclosed that there are terrorist informants embedded in the security agencies who leak information to the groups whenever the military wants to take action against them.

He narrated what happened after the terrorists killed a soldier two weeks ago in one of the communities.

ā€œThe soldiers were very angry and mobilised to take revenge. But before they got to the terrorists’ camp, they had already got the information and run up to the mountains.ā€

Speaking about the danger that he faces daily in his campaign and advocacy for the Christian communities in Plateau State, Evangelist Dachomo revealed that the terrorists had already placed a bounty on his head.

ā€œAnyone who finds me first and kills me will be given a reward,ā€ he disclosed.

He, however, said that he had already accepted his fate and instructed his family not to pay a dime in ransom if he was ever kidnapped.

He said kidnapping and ransom payment was another means that the terrorists used to plunder the Christian communities and weaken them.
