In what could be described as a town hall meeting for Akwa Ibom State College of Nursing Sciences, Ituk Mbang Campus, and to strengthen collaboration between the college and the Local Government, the Chairman of Uruan Local Government Area, Hon. Surv. Iniobong Ekpenyong, conducted an assessment tour aimed at improving nursing education and healthcare delivery.
The council chairman was received by the Director of Campus, Mrs. Mary Joseph Essien, on behalf of the Management and Staff of Ituk Mbang Campus, in the company of vice chairman; Mrs Grace Edem, leader of the Legislature; Rt. Hon. Sunday Bassey, councilors, and the council secretary; Mr. Destiny Edet.
Hon. Ekpenyong during his visit promised that the Local Government council will collaborate with the school management to increase the NBTE quota for Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), 180 per admission year, development of campus library, ICT and Hostel, as well as classroom space to enable admit more students.
Earlier, the director of campus, Mrs Essien appreciated the chairman for the August visitation. She thanked Governor Umo Eno for ensuring that all School of Nursing are accredited and upgraded to commence ND/HND programme in Nursing now known as Akwa Ibom State College of Nursing Sciences in which Ituk Mbang is one of the major campuses.
She remarked that the campus was determined to uphold the highest standard of Nursing Practices, to train and equip compassionate, and highly skilling Nursing Students who will provide quality healthcare to the teaming population, while trusting that the chairman’s visit will present an opportunity to adequately assess the campus and collaborate as a key player stakeholder.
