BREAKING: Liverpool Star Jota And Brother Die Two Weeks After Footballer’s Marriage

    Liverpool Star Jota

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has tragically died in a car accident in Spain at the age of 28, according to the Daily Mail.

Jota was said to be travelling with his 26-year-old brother, André, who is also a professional footballer, when their vehicle veered off the road.

The fatal crash occurred along the A-52 highway in Zamora province.

The heartbreaking incident comes just two weeks after Jota tied the knot with his longtime partner, Rute Cardoso, in a wedding ceremony held in Porto.

A prominent sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the incident on Thursday morning.

The journalist wrote: ”Marca reports Liverpool player Diogo Jota has passed away. We’re absolutely devastated.”

Diogo Jota began his professional football career at Paços de Ferreira before moving to Spanish side Atlético Madrid in 2016. He was immediately loaned out, first to FC Porto in the Primeira Liga and then to English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017.

After playing a key role in Wolves’ promotion to the Premier League, he joined them permanently in 2017 for a reported €14 million. During his time at the club, he made 131 appearances and scored 44 goals. In 2020, he secured a move to Liverpool in a deal reportedly worth £41 million.

On the international stage, Jota represented Portugal at various youth levels, under-19, under-21, and under-23, before making his senior debut in November 2019.

He featured in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championships in 2020 and 2024. He was also part of the Portuguese squads that won the UEFA Nations League titles in 2019 and 2025.
