Hotel Workers Caught Dumping Man’s Body Under Abuja Bridge After He Dies in Their Room

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has linked a woman and two workers of a guest house in Gwarimpa, Abuja, to the alleged removal and dumping of the body of a man whose remains were found under the Katampe Bridge.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Sanusi, disclosed this on Saturday while briefing journalists at the Command headquarters in Abuja.
According to Sanusi, the deceased’s body was discovered along the Kubwa Expressway by Katampe on August 26, after his family had earlier reported him missing.
The discovery had initially generated speculation that the deceased may have been a victim of kidnapping or “one-chance” robbery.
However, the police said investigations later established that the body belonged to the same man whose disappearance had been reported by his family.
Sanusi said the deceased’s missing mobile phone became a major breakthrough in the investigation.
He explained that although the phone had been switched off, investigators traced its last known communication to Mrs Rukayat Muhammed of Garki Area 2.
The CP said further investigation revealed that Muhammed, who is married, was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the deceased and had saved his contact as “Safiyat” on her phone.
According to the police, the pair had lodged at Good Samaritan Guest House, Second Avenue, Gwarimpa, where Muhammed allegedly discovered that the man was no longer breathing.
Rather than immediately contacting the police, Sanusi said Muhammed allegedly took the deceased’s mobile phone and left the guest house.
The Commissioner said the hotel management later attempted to reach the occupants of the room but, after several hours without success, gained access to the room and discovered the man’s body.
He said two members of the guest house management, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, allegedly removed the body from the room and transported it to the Kubwa Expressway by Katampe, where they dumped it under the bridge.
Sanusi, however, stressed that investigators had yet to establish the exact cause and circumstances of the man’s death.
He said other investigative processes were ongoing to determine the full facts surrounding the incident.
The Commissioner further warned that anyone found to have played a role in the man’s death or in the subsequent concealment and abandonment of his body would face the law.
He added that the investigation underscored the Command’s commitment to establishing the facts behind the discovery of bodies before drawing conclusions about how the deaths occurred.
