House Democrats Vow To Investigate Trump, Family, Describe Him As ‘Most Corrupt President’

Democrats in the United States House of Representatives have vowed to investigate President Donald Trump and members of his family if the party regains control of congressional committees.
The lawmakers made the declaration in a statement posted on their official X account on Tuesday, describing Trump as “the most corrupt president in our history.”
“When Democrats get the gavels, we will investigate him and his family and get justice for the American people,” the lawmakers said.
The statement comes amid an escalating political dispute between Trump and congressional Democrats.
Trump recently accused the Democratic Party and former Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign of illegally paying millions of dollars to celebrities for political endorsements.
He specifically alleged that singer Beyoncé, television personality Oprah Winfrey and civil rights activist Al Sharpton received payments connected to Harris’ campaign. Trump argued that such payments violated US election laws and called for investigations and possible prosecution.
Democrats subsequently dismissed Trump’s allegations, with House Democrats referring to him as “a fool,” according to SaharaReporters.
The latest confrontation adds to a series of disputes between the Trump administration and congressional Democrats.
Earlier in September, Trump also proposed a $5,000 payment to American adults, which he described as a “Trump dividend,” while urging voters to support Republicans in the November midterm elections. The proposal attracted criticism from some commentators who argued that linking the payment to the election could influence voters.
Democrats’ latest statement indicates that, should they obtain control of congressional committees, they intend to use their investigative powers to scrutinise Trump and members of his family.
The accusation that Trump is the “most corrupt president in our history” is a political characterization made by Democratic lawmakers; it is not an established historical finding. Similar language has also been used by Democratic members of Congress in earlier official statements and congressional remarks.
