NNPC Foundation Bags Independent Newspapers CSR Health Award 2025
NNPC Foundation Limited/Gte, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of NNPC Ltd., has been honoured with the CSR Champion Award (Health) 2025 by Independent Newspapers.
The award was presented at the Silver Jubilee edition of the Independent Newspapers Awards, themed “Game Changers: Breaking Barriers and Shaping Tomorrow,” held at Eko Hotel and Suites on April 18, 2026.
The recognition highlights the Foundation’s impactful contributions to healthcare and its broader commitment to improving lives through strategic social investment programmes in health, education, environment, and access to energy.
The award follows a range of health-focused interventions executed by the Foundation across the country. These include free cataract screenings and surgeries that restored sight to over 6,000 Nigerians—among them children born blind—as well as cancer and glaucoma treatments, and medical outreaches to underserved communities.
Other notable initiatives include the renovation and furnishing of three hospital wards with 100 beds at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, sponsorship of heart surgeries, and the distribution of dental health materials to children in special schools.
The Foundation attributed its achievements to the strong leadership and support of the NNPC Ltd. management team, noting that their commitment has enhanced its capacity to deliver impactful programmes nationwide.
Reacting to the award, Managing Director of NNPC Foundation, Emmanuella Arukwe, described the recognition as a validation of the organisation’s efforts and the trust Nigerians have placed in its mission.
She said the award reflects the confidence of the public in the Foundation’s work and underscores the value of purposeful social investment. According to her, it also represents the resilience of beneficiary communities, the dedication of the Foundation’s team, and the strength of its partnerships.
Arukwe further acknowledged the role of NNPC Ltd.’s management, stating that their support has been instrumental to the success recorded so far. She added that the Foundation receives the honour with gratitude and a renewed commitment to expand its reach and deepen its impact across the country.
NNPC Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to advancing health interventions that improve outcomes and contribute to national development.
