TCN Confirms Attempted Robbery Attack At Ogbomosho Substation
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed an attempted robbery incident at the Ogbomosho Transmission Substation in the early hours of Saturday, May 10, 2026.
According to preliminary reports, a group of armed men allegedly gained unauthorised access to the substation by scaling the perimeter fence near the facility’s gate between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
The intruders reportedly advanced toward the gate house in an attempt to overpower the vigilante security personnel stationed at the facility.
However, the security team on duty successfully repelled the attackers after firing warning shots, forcing the suspects to retreat and escape through the same route they used to enter the premises.
During their escape, the suspects allegedly abandoned several tools and personal items close to the fence area.
TCN disclosed that an inspection carried out early Sunday morning revealed abandoned implements suspected to have been used during the attempted attack, as well as traces of blood and footprints leading toward the escape route.
A further search conducted after daylight reportedly led to the recovery of a bag containing additional tools believed to belong to the fleeing suspects.
The company stated that the incident has been reported to relevant authorities and that it is working closely with security agencies to investigate the attempted attack and prevent future occurrences.
TCN confirmed that no personnel were injured during the incident.
The company reiterated its commitment to protecting critical power infrastructure and ensuring the safety of its staff and installations nationwide.
TCN also disclosed that a formal report of the incident would be submitted to the Oba’s Palace on May 11, 2026.
