Panic As Private Jet Loses Door During Flight to Lagos

A private jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Abuja on Thursday after reportedly losing a door while travelling to Lagos.
The aircraft, operated by Triton Aviation, took off from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, before the incident occurred at about 4:20 p.m.
The jet, a CL60 bearing registration number T7-SEI and flight identification DWC052, was scheduled to land at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.
An incident report indicated that the crew contacted air traffic control after discovering that a door had opened mid-air. The aircraft was subsequently instructed by the approach radar controller to return to Abuja, where it landed safely.
Following the incident, social media influencer Chuks Eric, who uses the handle @ChuksEricE on X, posted a video showing the aircraft and the detached door. The door was reportedly found on a local farm after falling from the aircraft.
The incident has sparked concerns over the safety of private aviation operations in Nigeria, particularly regarding aircraft maintenance and pre-flight inspection procedures.
The detachment of an aircraft door during flight is a potentially serious occurrence that could expose passengers and crew to significant danger, depending on the aircraft’s design and the circumstances of the incident.
However, the exact cause of the incident remains unknown.
Neither the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) nor the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) had released an official statement on the incident at the time of reporting.
It was also unclear whether any passengers or crew members sustained injuries during the emergency.
An investigation is expected to establish how the door became detached and determine whether any maintenance lapses or other technical issues contributed to the incident.
