The Federal Government has approved ₦631.3 billion for nine road infrastructure projects across the country, with interventions covering Ekiti, Kogi, Kano, Adamawa, Taraba and other areas.
The approval was granted by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at its meeting presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, announced the development while addressing State House correspondents after the meeting.
He said the projects form part of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises infrastructure development as a means of stimulating economic growth, improving transportation and promoting national integration.
The approved projects include the 81.1-kilometre Ado–Ilawe–Ilumaba–Ikole Road in Ekiti State, the 95-kilometre Etuke–Okene–Ankpa–Otopa Road in Kogi State, and the Bichi Ring Road in Kano State.
Other approvals cover road projects in Adamawa and Taraba states, remedial works on the East-West Road and the rehabilitation of the Sokoto–Illela Road.
According to the Ministry of Works, the projects are expected to improve movement between communities, strengthen regional trade and provide better access to markets and essential services.
The ministry added that improved road infrastructure would help farmers transport their produce more efficiently, enable businesses to distribute goods at lower costs and encourage investment in affected communities.
It also noted that road construction and rehabilitation projects could generate employment opportunities and support activities across the agricultural, commercial and industrial sectors.
The government said the latest approvals underscore its determination to address infrastructure deficits and develop a road network capable of supporting Nigeria’s long-term economic development.

The expressway is one of Nigeria’s major transportation routes, connecting communities and supporting the movement of passengers and commercial goods across the country.
The minister said progress on the highway reflects the Federal Government’s continued commitment to improving critical road corridors and strengthening transportation infrastructure.
The Ministry of Works maintained that the successful delivery of the approved projects would depend on effective implementation, adherence to quality standards, transparency and accountability.
It reiterated its commitment to developing and maintaining a reliable national road network that supports economic growth, facilitates trade and improves the livelihoods of Nigerians.
