Thousands Welcome Umahi In Ebonyi, Back Tinubu For Second Term

Ohaozara community celebrates former governor, praises Federal Government’s road infrastructure projects

Thousands of jubilant residents on Monday staged an enthusiastic homecoming reception for the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, in his hometown of Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The reception, described as spontaneous and organised by residents, followed Umahi’s engagements with stakeholders in Abakaliki on November 2, 2026.

Residents from various communities in Uburu and the wider Ohaozara area converged to welcome the former Ebonyi State Governor, celebrating his elevation to the Federal Executive Council and his current role in driving the country’s infrastructure development.

The people particularly praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Umahi as Minister of Works, describing the decision as a demonstration of confidence in their son and recognition of his experience in infrastructure development.
Addressing the gathering, Onu Okorie, Prince Mathew and Comrade Kingsley Obini, among other prominent stakeholders, expressed appreciation for Umahi’s contributions to the country.

They noted that his position as Works Minister had provided the South-East with an opportunity to benefit from increased federal attention to critical road and bridge projects.
According to the stakeholders, the rehabilitation and construction of federal roads remain essential to improving transportation, boosting commercial activities and addressing the infrastructure challenges confronting the region.

They also expressed pride in Umahi’s performance, describing his ministerial appointment as a significant opportunity for Ebonyi State and the South-East to contribute more meaningfully to national development.
The residents, while commending the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure initiatives across the country, pledged their support for the President’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

They linked their political position to what they described as the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and its decision to entrust Umahi with a strategic ministerial portfolio.
The gathering ended with renewed expressions of solidarity with the Works Minister and appreciation for President Tinubu’s confidence in their son.
