Nigeria Targets $5bn Trade Expansion As Türkiye Partnership Advances

The Honourable Minister of Interior has reaffirmed the strategic value of Nigeria’s growing partnership with Türkiye, following a high-level visit undertaken alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
According to the Minister, the engagement focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation across critical sectors, including security, migration management, border control, law enforcement capacity-building, and institutional collaboration, while advancing the shared goal of expanding Nigeria–Türkiye bilateral trade to $5 billion.
He explained that discussions were anchored on clear implementation frameworks, mutual accountability, and measurable deliverables designed to align with Nigeria’s national security architecture and economic development priorities.
The Minister noted that the strengthened partnership is expected to enhance Nigeria’s capacity to address transnational crime, irregular migration, and internal security challenges, while also creating opportunities in trade expansion, technology transfer, and skills development.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency and results, he stated that the Federal Government values public engagement and constructive feedback, and remains focused on translating signed agreements into tangible outcomes that improve national security, drive economic growth, and strengthen public confidence in state institutions.
He added that through sustained diplomacy and responsible governance, Nigeria will continue to pursue strategic partnerships that ensure a safer, more secure, and economically prosperous future for the country.
