Trump To Canada: We Don’t Need Anything You Have
United States President, Donald Trump, has dismissed the need for trade with Canada, arguing that the United States has no use for its resources and should stop subsidising its northern neighbour.
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday, Trump claimed that the U.S. spends hundreds of billions of dollars supporting Canada without justification.
He insisted that America has unlimited energy, should manufacture its own cars, and possesses more lumber than it could ever use.
Trump stated that without U.S. financial support, Canada would struggle to survive as a viable country.
He wrote, “We pay hundreds of Billions of Dollars to SUBSIDIZE Canada. Why? There is no reason. We don’t need anything they have. We have unlimited Energy, should make our own Cars, and have more Lumber than we can ever use. Without this massive subsidy, Canada ceases to exist as a viable Country. Harsh but true!
“Therefore, Canada should become our Cherished 51st State. Much lower taxes, and far better military protection for the people of Canada — AND NO TARIFFS!“
Trump further suggested that Canada should become hi the 51st state, claiming it would lead to lower taxes, stronger military protection, and the removal of tariffs.
This is not the first time he has pushed for such a move. In January, he revisited the idea of a U.S.-Canada merger following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s resignation announcement.
