VIDEO: Umo Eno Appreciates Tinubu Over Successful Akwa Ibom Visit, Seaport Approval
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the financing arrangement for the proposed Ibom Deep Seaport, describing the decision as a major milestone in the state’s economic development.
The governor also assured the President of massive electoral support from Akwa Ibom State in the January 16, 2027 election, declaring that the people would stand behind his continued leadership beyond May 29, 2027.
Eno conveyed the appreciation in a statement following Tinubu’s successful visit to Akwa Ibom State on Friday, November 6, 2026.
He thanked the President, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, his wife, and other members of the presidential delegation for honouring the state with their presence.
The governor, speaking on behalf of the government and people of Akwa Ibom State, also acknowledged the support of the Senate President and his wife in receiving the presidential delegation.
Describing the approval of the Ibom Deep Seaport financing arrangement as a defining moment, Eno said the project would open new economic opportunities for the state through international trade, investment, industrialisation and employment generation.
According to him, the proposed seaport goes beyond ordinary infrastructure development, as it is expected to position Akwa Ibom as a major maritime and economic hub in Nigeria and the Gulf of Guinea.
He assured President Tinubu that his administration would provide the necessary cooperation to ensure the successful actualisation of the project.
On the 2027 general election, the governor declared that Akwa Ibom people would mobilise massive support for the President.
“Akwa Ibom assures you that we will respond en masse on January 16, 2027, as we will give you all our votes in support of your continuity in office from May 29, 2027,” Eno said.
The governor also commended residents for their impressive turnout and warm reception during the President’s visit.
He specifically appreciated traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, youths, women, security agencies, public servants, students, support groups, members of the State Executive Council and various committees for their contributions to the successful hosting of the President.
Eno noted that the massive reception further demonstrated Akwa Ibom’s reputation as a peaceful, hospitable and investment-ready state.
He concluded by thanking Tinubu for his visit and commitment to the state’s development, while praying for God’s continued blessings upon the President, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
“Together, we will arise, build and prosper,” the governor added.
President Tinubu announced the approval of the Ibom Deep Seaport financing arrangement on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, during a reception and rally organised in his honour.
