BREAKING: Video: Wike’s Newly Built Multi-Billion-Naira Bus Terminal Damaged By Rainstorm
Traffic gridlock paralysed the Maraba–Nyanya axis of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Tuesday after a severe rainstorm damaged the newly constructed multi-billion-naira Kugbo Bus Terminal.
The terminal was built under the supervision of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
The downpour, accompanied by strong winds, tore off sections of the terminal’s roofing, scattering debris across the busy corridor and making the road nearly impassable.
Commuters were forced to trek long distances as traffic continued to build up during the storm.
The Kugbo Bus Terminal, located along the Maraba–Nyanya route, is among several transport infrastructure projects recently completed by the FCT Administration to modernise urban transit and ease congestion in the nation’s capital.
The facility, which reportedly cost billions of naira, has yet to begin full commercial operations.
In May 2024, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved N51 billion for the construction of three major bus terminals in the FCT, namely Kugbo, Mabushi, and the Central Business District, under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

While the specific cost of the Kugbo terminal has not been separately itemised, it is included in the N51 billion contract carried out by Planet Projects Nigeria Limited.
