Forum of Abia Democrats Hails Acho Obioma’s Commitment to Democratic Governance
The Forum of Abia Democrats (FABD) has commended the National Secretary of the Labour Party, Hon. Iheanacho “Acho” Obioma, for his exemplary leadership, commitment to democratic governance, and contributions to nation-building.
The commendation followed the forum’s enlarged meeting held over the weekend in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, where members extensively deliberated on the current political situation in the state and across the country.
In a statement issued on Monday and jointly signed by the Chairman, Surveyor Samuel Aguiyi, and the Secretary-General, Victor Mbanaso, the forum praised Obioma’s unwavering dedication to promoting national unity, political stability, and democratic ideals.
FABD, whose membership cuts across registered political parties in the 17 local government areas of Abia State, noted that the former member of the House of Representatives has continued to make significant contributions toward strengthening democratic institutions and advancing good governance in Nigeria.
The forum also acknowledged Obioma’s role in fostering peace and unity within the Labour Party following the prolonged legal disputes that affected the party’s national leadership.
According to the group, Obioma played an active role in the emergence of the current transformative leadership in Abia State and has remained a dependable partner in Governor Alex Otti’s efforts to rebuild and develop the state.
Describing him as an authentic democrat and accomplished political administrator, FABD said Obioma’s emergence as the National Secretary of the Labour Party marks the beginning of a new era of purposeful leadership in political party administration in Nigeria.
The forum further stated that his wealth of experience has contributed to greater stability within the country’s political party system, adding that his leadership has redefined administrative excellence within the Labour Party.
FABD also disclosed plans to organise town hall meetings and public debates ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to the forum, the events will provide a platform for governorship candidates, as well as candidates for the National and State Houses of Assembly from various political parties, to present their development agendas for Abia State, its senatorial districts, and constituencies.
The forum, therefore, urged all eligible residents of Abia State to take advantage of the extended Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), enabling them to elect credible leaders during the 2027 general elections.
