Kebbi Communities Deserted as Suspected Lakurawa Terrorists Abduct Dozens

Fear has gripped Alelu, Kimba and Jandutsi communities in Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State following renewed attacks by suspected Lakurawa terrorists.
The gunmen reportedly invaded the communities, killed residents and abducted dozens of people, forcing families to flee to Jega town in search of safety.
A report by Yusuf Abdullahi of Nagari FM revealed that residents estimated the number of abducted victims at between 60 and 80. The attackers were also alleged to have demanded ₦200 million in ransom, although the claim could not be independently verified.
Residents said the attacks had disrupted farming and trading, leaving displaced families without stable sources of income, food or accommodation.
Some victims were reportedly released after negotiations and interventions, but several others were still being held by their abductors.
The attacks reportedly resumed after Governor Nasir Idris visited one of the affected communities to commiserate with residents.
The chairman of Jega East, identified as Mika’ilu, also visited the displaced families and appealed for increased security operations.
Residents are calling on the Kebbi State Government to urgently intervene, rescue the remaining abductees and provide shelter and other essential support for those forced to abandon their homes.
