‘Write Your Will Before 2027’: Obidient Movement Warns Wike Over TVC Comments
The Obidient Movement has warned Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and other political actors against any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
The group issued the warning in a statement signed by its Media and Communications Directorate and published on its X handle, following Wike’s recent comments about the 2023 presidential election.

Wike, speaking on TVC News’ Journalists’ Hangout, said the former G-5 governors adopted a strategy that allowed Labour Party candidate Peter Obi to win in states such as Edo and Cross River in order to prevent former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate at the time, from benefiting from the South-South’s traditional PDP support.
Wike said Rivers State was treated differently because the group did not want Obi to win there.
“It was only Rivers that said, ‘No, we have a problem here in Rivers. Obi will not win here because if he wins, he sends a signal somewhere, people may not understand it.’ And we stopped…we stopped it,” Wike said.
Reacting to the remarks, the Obidient Movement accused Wike and other political actors of manipulating the 2023 election. The group described Wike’s comments as confirmation of what it has long alleged about the election.
It then issued a strongly worded warning ahead of the 2027 election, saying those who attempt to manipulate the electoral process should “write their will” before the polls.
The group said Nigerians would resist any attempt to alter the will of voters at polling units or during the collation and announcement of results.
The movement also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct what it described as free, fair, transparent and credible elections, while urging security agencies to protect voters, electoral officials and the electoral process.
It further warned political thugs against allowing themselves to be used to disrupt the 2027 election, urging them to reject attempts by politicians to deploy them for electoral violence.
The Obidient Movement insisted that the outcome of the 2027 election must be determined by votes cast by Nigerians rather than decisions allegedly made by politicians, electoral officials or security agencies behind closed doors.
Wike’s comments have meanwhile reignited debate over the role of the G-5 governors in the 2023 presidential election. The group comprised Wike, Seyi Makinde, Samuel Ortom, Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who opposed Atiku’s presidential bid amid the PDP’s internal crisis.
The controversy comes as political parties and opposition groups intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
