VIDEO: Suspension: Ohovbe Community Appeals To The Palace Benin Monarch For Forgiveness
Following the suspension of Enigie, Dr. Adun Iduriase JP, by the Benin traditional council, the indigenous people of Ohovbe village, Ikpoba Okha local government area of Edo State, have appealed to The Palace Benin Monarch for forgiveness.
The letter obtained by Naija News House on Monday, the leaders of the community, Pa Joseph Edugie, Mrs. Florence Osarenkhoe, Eghe Imariagbe, and Francis Iyayota, expressed their apology to the Benin Monarch, requesting that he should temper justice with mercy to forgive Dr. Iduriase JP.

The leaders regret the action Dr. Iduriase JP took. According to the statement, the suspended Enigie is not in the habit of undermining the highly respected tradition and the tenets of the Benin traditional council and, as a people, stand for values, integrity, and utmost respect for tradition.
However, Dr. Adun Iduriase JP used this medium to seek the forgiveness of His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II.
Naija News House recalls that the Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku-Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, officially announced the suspension of 67 enigie (dukes). The announcement is contained in a statement by the secretary of the Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor. According to Irabor, the suspension of the dukes was largely due to their rebellious activities aimed at balkanizing the throne and the kingdom.
The suspended dukes have since challenged their suspension in court.
