APC Unveils Osun Campaign Council, Says Party Has Resources to Win Governorship Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its National Campaign Council for the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, expressing confidence that the party has the political strength, experience and resources to secure victory.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the Osun governorship election as a strategic contest that would serve as a rehearsal for the 2027 general elections.
He said the ruling party possesses unmatched political structures and human resources, stressing that the composition of the campaign council reflects the APC’s nationwide strength.
According to Yilwatda, the council comprises governors, ministers, members of the National Assembly, former lawmakers, deputy governors, business leaders and other stakeholders drawn from across the country.
“If any political party in Nigeria has human resources in abundance, it is the APC. If there is any political party that has the most experienced politicians in Nigeria, no political party can boast of the number of governors, National Assembly members, local government chairmen, councillors and former political office holders that we have,” he said.
He added that the APC has continued to attract leaders from different political backgrounds, further strengthening its electoral capacity.
“We have all it takes to win elections—from councillorship to local government elections, National Assembly, House of Assembly, governorship and the presidential election in 2027,” he stated.
Yilwatda emphasized that the Osun governorship election would be the final electoral contest before the 2027 general elections, making it a crucial test of the party’s campaign machinery.
“This will be the last election before the general election. It will be our rehearsal of the machinery we are preparing for 2027. That is why winning the Osun election is very important to the APC,” he said.
He assured party members that the APC would deploy both human and material resources for the election, with governors, ministers, lawmakers and party officials expected to undertake extensive grassroots mobilization across the state.
According to him, the campaign will include house-to-house and community-based engagements involving governors from both the North and South, members of the National Assembly, state legislators, local government chairmen and councillors.
“There is no tribe, no language, no community in Osun State where the APC does not have people who can knock on doors, speak to the electorate and convince them to support our candidate,” Yilwatda added.
He also directed party committees to intensify the mobilization of women and youths as part of the APC’s grassroots campaign strategy.
Following his remarks, the APC National Chairman formally inaugurated members of the National Campaign Council, expressing confidence in their ability to deliver victory for the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebanji.
In his acceptance speech, Chairman of the National Campaign Council, Senator Hope Uzodimma, pledged that the council would conduct an issue-based, peaceful and people-oriented campaign centered on the achievements of the APC-led Federal Government and the party’s candidate.
Uzodimma said the campaign would engage workers, farmers, market women, artisans, youths, professionals, traditional rulers and other key stakeholders across Osun State.
“Our campaign will be vigorous without violence, competitive without bitterness, and confident without arrogance. We shall conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the Omoluabi ethos of Osun State,” he said.
He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to delivering what he described as a peaceful, free, fair and credible victory for the APC in the August 15 governorship election.
