A’Ibom Chairman In Serious Trouble For Equipping Security Agency With Machetes And Rain Boots

Chairman of Essien Udim LGA in Akwa Ibom State, has come under intense criticism after posting photos of the “necessary equipment” he provided to the local security unit items limited to machetes, torchlights, raincoats, and rain boots.
The Facebook post, intended to showcase efforts to enhance security around government facilities, sparked backlash as Nigerians questioned the usefulness of such basic tools against armed criminals.

The Chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, Ntiedo Effiong Usoro, has faced heavy criticism on social media after proudly showcasing the equipment he supplied to the council’s local security unit to combat insecurity.

Usoro shared photos on Facebook, writing: “Yesterday, in my office, I provided the council local security unit with the necessary equipment to protect the council secretariat and other government facilities within its premises.”

The so-called “necessary equipment” included:Machetes, Torch lights, Raincoats, Rain boots

Nigerians quickly criticized the Chairman, questioning the effectiveness of the supplies against modern, gun-wielding criminals. Many also expressed concern over the image of an elderly man pictured among the security personnel, questioning his capacity to secure the neighborhood with such rudimentary tools.

In other news…. The lady identified as Esther, who recently went viral after attempting to dance intimately with her friend’s husband at their wedding reception, has publicly apologized for the misunderstanding.

The incident gained widespread attention after a video showed the bride quickly intervening and pushing Esther away from the groom.

In a statement shared on social media, Esther insisted she had no romantic intentions toward the groom and explained her actions:

“Her husband has been a very loving man to me. He has been very kind and I simply wanted to dance with him. I didn’t know that what I did was going to be so wrong,” she said.

The viral incident has sparked widespread social media debate, ranging from humor to critique regarding public behavior and the dynamics between friends and married couples.

Online reactions were divided, with many questioning her explanation:

@D3 critiqued the intimacy of the dance: “‘All you wanted to do was just to dance’ and you dey give your friend husband yansh. This gender never seems to amaze me. I bet she and the husband must have do the do before this can happen publicly. Na jealousy and pepe body dey worry her.”
