Terrorists Abandon Arms as OPHK Records 213% Surge in Surrenders
Sustained military operations by troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have resulted in a significant increase in the number of terrorist fighters and associates surrendering to troops across the North-East Theatre of Operations.
The Theatre Command disclosed that terrorist surrenders increased by 213 per cent during the past week compared with the preceding week, following intensified ground operations, engagements against terrorist positions and sustained disruption of their logistics and supply networks.
According to the military, the development indicates the growing impact of operational pressure on terrorist groups, with more fighters abandoning their activities and submitting to established surrender procedures.
The Theatre also recorded the surrender of two high-profile terrorist members on Thursday, who handed themselves over to troops along with arms, ammunition and other military items.
The recovery of the weapons, the military said, further underscores the impact of sustained pressure on the terrorists’ cohesion, morale and ability to sustain prolonged operations.
In another development, additional terrorist members surrendered to troops of 202 Battalion in Bama on August 7, 2026, at New Abaram, following sustained military operations and internal disagreements within their enclave.
The surrendering terrorists were screened, while mobile phones and other items were recovered from them before they were handed over for further action in line with established procedures.
The Theatre Command said the increasing frequency of surrenders reflects the cumulative effect of offensive operations, precision engagements and the systematic disruption of terrorist logistics and supply routes.
It added that denying terrorists the ability to manoeuvre freely, regroup and replenish their resources was steadily weakening their operational capacity and creating fractures within their ranks.
Operation HADIN KAI, the military said, remains committed to maintaining pressure on terrorist elements while providing appropriate channels for those willing to abandon violence and surrender.
The Theatre Command urged members of the public to continue supporting security operations by providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
It also called on terrorists and their associates to abandon violence and take advantage of available surrender channels as the military intensifies efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and restore lasting peace and stability across the North-East.
