“Where Is Nigeria’s President?” Peter Obi Questions Tinubu’s Whereabouts, Urges Nigerians to Pray for His Return
Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has questioned the whereabouts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and urged Nigerians to continue praying for his return.
Obi raised the issue in a statement on Sunday while reacting to Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama’s participation in the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
According to Obi, while leaders from different countries are attending the global gathering, Tinubu has been absent from the UNGA for the third consecutive time.

He specifically referenced Mahama’s address at the UNGA, describing it as remarkable, and questioned why the Nigerian President was not personally present at the international forum.
“Where is the President of Africa’s most populous nation?” Obi asked, noting that Nigeria is a country of more than 200 million people.
Although Vice President Kashim Shettima is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the UNGA and delivered the country’s national statement, Obi maintained that questions remain over Tinubu’s absence.
Obi also expressed concern about the challenges facing Nigeria and called on citizens to continue praying for the President’s return and leadership in addressing the nation’s problems.
“Let us continue to pray for his return and for his leadership in addressing the many challenges confronting the nation,” Obi said.
The Presidency has said Tinubu is on an extended working vacation in Europe and has continued to discharge his responsibilities while away. It has also said the President is expected to return to Nigeria this week.
