Jigawa Residents Chant ‘Tinubu Must Stay’ as NITDA DG Leads 2027 Re-election Mobilisation

A large crowd of supporters in Garun Gabas Ward, Malam Madori Local Government Area of Jigawa State, has declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, chanting “Tinubu Must Stay” during the inauguration of a grassroots campaign office.
The campaign office was inaugurated by the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, as part of efforts to mobilise grassroots support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event was organised by the Tinubu Movement for Sustainable Governance Foundation (TMS), popularly known as the Tinubu Must Stay Movement, and attracted APC leaders, community stakeholders, women, youths and other supporters.
Abdullahi, who is also the Chairman of the TMS Board of Trustees and National Coordinator, said the movement was expanding its grassroots presence to educate citizens on the policies and reforms of the Tinubu administration and promote support for the President’s anticipated second-term ambition.
He explained that the movement was established to take awareness of the administration’s reform agenda to communities across the country, stressing that economic diversification and inclusive development remained central to Tinubu’s vision for national prosperity.
According to him, the administration’s interventions in education, agriculture, food security, national security, digital literacy and healthcare are aimed at stimulating economic growth, improving livelihoods and strengthening national development.
Citing South Korea, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia as examples, the NITDA DG said sustained economic reforms and policy consistency were essential for achieving meaningful national development.
He therefore urged residents to support Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
“On this note, I implore the people to come out en masse and ensure a landslide victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” he said.
Beyond political mobilisation, Abdullahi announced plans to empower another 200 women in Garun Gabas Ward under the movement’s community intervention programmes.
He said the initiative would build on previous empowerment exercises across Jigawa State, including a recent programme in Hadejia, where beneficiaries received financial assistance, sewing machines, bakery equipment and agricultural inputs to support their businesses and improve household incomes.
He added that the movement would sustain its focus on vulnerable groups, particularly women, youths, children and persons with disabilities, through economic empowerment, educational support and other community development initiatives.
Abdullahi also appreciated the residents for their support for the Tinubu administration, assuring them of continued access to government development programmes if the President secured re-election.
The event also witnessed the defection of some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors, who were received by Abdullahi and the Malam Madori APC leadership, said their decision was influenced by development interventions and projects in their communities, particularly those facilitated through NITDA.
Speaking at the inauguration, the APC Chairman in Malam Madori Local Government Area, Alhaji Tanko Ahmad, commended Abdullahi for facilitating digital infrastructure projects that have created opportunities for young people.
He specifically acknowledged the establishment of an Information and Communication Technology Development Centre at Government Secondary School, Garun Gabas, describing it as an important contribution to digital literacy and education.
Ahmad said the centre had provided students with opportunities to acquire relevant technology skills and prepare for emerging opportunities in the digital economy.
He pledged the continued support of APC structures in the area for the TMS Movement, assuring that grassroots mobilisation would be intensified ahead of the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, the TMS Convener in Garun Gabas, Engineer Hashim Suleiman, described the impressive turnout as evidence of the movement’s growing acceptance at the grassroots.
Suleiman traced the movement’s development from its initial activities in the United Kingdom to its formal launch in Abuja and subsequent expansion into communities across Nigeria.
He said the inauguration in Garun Gabas marked the beginning of wider grassroots engagements, with plans to establish more mobilisation structures in other communities.
He also expressed optimism about the country’s economic direction, pointing to developments in the financial and petroleum sectors as potential drivers of investment and economic growth.
Suleiman urged beneficiaries of the movement’s empowerment programmes to make productive use of the support received by investing in sustainable businesses and activities that would improve their economic independence.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of an Award of Recognition to Abdullahi by the TMS leadership in Garun Gabas in appreciation of his contributions to digital infrastructure development and grassroots mobilisation.
The organisers said the award recognised his efforts in facilitating technology-related projects and supporting the expansion of the movement’s activities across Jigawa State.
The inauguration is part of the TMS grassroots mobilisation strategy, which is expected to extend to more wards and local government areas through political sensitisation, community engagement and empowerment initiatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
