Troops Arrest Terrorist Collaborator in Kaduna, Destroy Three IEDs, Recover 73 Rustled Animals in Zamfara
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded fresh operational successes with the arrest of an alleged terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State, the destruction of three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Zamfara State, and the recovery of 73 livestock abandoned by fleeing terrorists.
The operations, conducted on October 8, 2026, formed part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist networks, eliminate explosive threats and protect lives and property across the North-West region.
In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1, acting on credible intelligence, arrested a suspect identified as Yusuf Adamu at Kuyello in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area over his alleged links with terrorists.
During preliminary interrogation, Adamu reportedly admitted to participating in terrorist activities, including recording a video of a female kidnap victim who was allegedly sexually assaulted by terrorists to facilitate a ransom demand.
The suspect further alleged that the victim was killed after the ransom was delivered and that he received ₦50,000 for his involvement.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the alleged principal suspect, Yusuf Iliya Sani, and other individuals believed to be connected to the crime.
In a separate operation in Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2, working alongside personnel of the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, located and destroyed three IEDs planted by terrorists along the Magami–Dansadau road.
The successful operation is expected to improve the safety of residents and other road users while enhancing freedom of movement along the route.
Also on October 8, troops of Sector 2 responded to intelligence reports about terrorists moving rustled livestock between Kombo and Gurusu villages in Zamfara State.
The troops swiftly deployed to the area and engaged the suspected terrorists, forcing them to flee and abandon the animals.
The recovered livestock comprised 14 camels, 19 cows and 40 sheep. Troops, working with local vigilantes, subsequently moved the animals to a secure location for further action.
The latest successes highlight the continued efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and other security agencies to dismantle terrorist support networks, neutralise explosive threats and recover stolen property.
Members of the public have been urged to provide credible and timely information about suspicious persons, movements and objects to the nearest security formation to support ongoing security operations.
