Woman Nabbed With 266 AK-47 Bullets On Abuja-Kaduna Highway As NDLEA Records Major Drug Seizures

A woman, identified as Aisha Isah, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with 266 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

Isah was reportedly intercepted at a toll gate during a routine patrol by NDLEA operatives.
The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed the arrest in a statement released on Sunday.
The statement, however, did not indicate the woman’s point of departure, where she was heading or why she was allegedly in possession of the ammunition.
It also did not state whether she had been handed over to the police or another security agency for further investigation.
The arrest formed part of a series of nationwide operations in which the NDLEA recovered large quantities of illicit substances and arrested several suspected drug traffickers.
Among the operations was the arrest of a 68-year-old man, Ifeanyi Egwolonwu, along the Zaria-Kano Expressway at Gwargwaje, Zaria. He was allegedly found with 2,770 ampoules of pentazocine injection, 100 ampoules of diazepam injection, 11,000 diazepam tablets and 4,500 tablets of Exol-5.
In Kano, operatives arrested Ziya’ulhaq Abdullahi, 35, and Garba Muhammed, 52, in the Dorayi area on October 28 over the alleged possession of 19,250 tramadol 225mg pills weighing 13.6 kilogrammes.
A separate raid at Tashan Banke resulted in the arrest of seven suspects, including Faisal Adamu, with 178.85 kilogrammes of cannabis. Other substances recovered included diazepam, tramadol, Exol-5 and pregabalin.
In Sokoto, two men were arrested in separate operations, including Ibrahim Ayuba, 68, who was reportedly found with 236.6 kilogrammes of skunk on October 31.
The agency also carried out an operation at Eko Camp in Ilushi, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, with military support.
During the October 28 operation, operatives destroyed a cannabis farm covering 1.646 hectares, estimated to have the capacity to produce 4,115.53 kilogrammes of cannabis.
A 50-year-old woman, Christiana Uboi, was arrested with 301 kilogrammes of processed cannabis, while an additional 176 kilogrammes were recovered.
In Ondo State, four suspects were arrested during raids on cannabis farms in Ijare Forest on October 25. The operation yielded 16 bags of processed cannabis weighing 180 kilogrammes.
Despite announcing the arrest of Isah and the recovery of the ammunition, the NDLEA did not provide further details about the circumstances of the seizure or establish any connection between the ammunition and its drug-related investigations.
