Kebbi: Operation FANSAN YAMMA Troops Rescue 11 Kidnap Victims, Repel Terrorists’ Ambush
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 11 kidnapped persons and repelled a terrorist ambush during separate operations in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operations took place in Ribah town and the Wasagu-Falfala general area on October 30 and 31, 2026, respectively.

According to the military, troops of Sector 2 first responded to an emergency report on October 30 that terrorists had blocked the Ribah-Dirindaji road in an attempt to invade Ribah town.
The terrorists reportedly escaped with seven residents before the arrival of the troops.
However, the soldiers pursued the fleeing attackers towards Rambo village, putting them under intense pressure and compelling them to release their captives.
The seven victims, all indigenes of Ribah town, were subsequently rescued and reunited with their families.
They include Sa’adu Bala, 53; Nura Musa, 25; Dantami Yahyi, 57; Nasiru Muhammad, 21; Abdulakeem Abubakar, 23; Abdulahi Maikudi, 32; and Zaki Gambo, 56.
In a separate incident on October 31, troops on a routine security patrol in the Wasagu-Falfala area encountered terrorists who had laid an ambush along their route.
The troops engaged the attackers with superior firepower and successfully overpowered the ambush, forcing the terrorists to flee.
A search of the area after the encounter led to the discovery of four kidnapped persons abandoned by the terrorists during the exchange of fire.
The victims were identified as Lawali Ali, 20; Samaila Shaibu, 14; Kasimu Shaibu, 20; and Aliyu Bala, 18.
The four rescued persons, who are residents of Wasagu village, were handed over to the village head.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining security operations across its area of responsibility, maintaining dominance over the general area and preventing terrorists from threatening innocent residents.
It urged the public to continue providing credible and timely intelligence to assist troops in ongoing operations against terrorists and other criminal elements.
